Principal's Message

Dear Potrero Heights Community,

It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new Principal at Potrero Heights Elementary School.  I am truly honored to accept this new role and l look forward to working with your scholars.  As we work together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students an enriching school experience that you have grown accustomed to at PHE.

The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 22nd year in education, all in Montebello Unified. I started my career as a Science teacher at Schurr High School for 13 years and then as a Teacher on Special Assignment for two years. I became an administrator in 2015 and served as a Program Specialist at Suva Elementary for two years. I then returned to Schurr High School, as an Assistant Principal for the last five years. 

The first day of school will be on Monday, August 15, 2022 and it will be a regular day schedule. School will begin at 8:15AM and dismissal is at 2:30PM. Every Wednesday, all students are on a minimum day schedule and are dismissed at 1:15PM.

As of August 5, 2022, Montebello Unified is no longer requiring the daily wellness check. In addition, masks will not be required to be worn indoors or outdoors, but their usage will be highly recommended. Please encourage your scholars to continue practicing COVID safety protocols such as frequent hand washing and using the hand sanitizers found in each classroom. 

Parents, we encourage you to get involved by joining our amazing PTA, attending our parent advisory committees, and taking an active role in your scholars education. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can be of any assistance.
